Finish Grading for New Homes
Final grade around a new build, sloped away from the foundation on every side and ready for topsoil and sod.
Get the grade right and water goes where it should — away from your foundation, off your yard and into the ditch. We handle everything from rough grading on new lots to finish grading before sod.

Fixing uneven, bumpy or sunken yards so they mow flat and drain properly.
Reshaping low spots and creating gentle swales so water flows off the property instead of pooling.
Levelled, compacted pads for garages, sheds, shops and additions.
Smoothing and crowning large gravel yards and parking areas with a land plane.
Spreading and levelling topsoil ahead of seed or sod.
We walk the property first and look at where water comes from and where it needs to go. On a new build we check the grades against the house and the lot's grading plan if there is one.
Then we rough-grade with the track loader or skid steer, set the slopes, and finish with a land plane for a smooth, even surface. Every job is done by our own crew — no subcontractors.
We're an owner-operated crew: we walk every site before we price it, show up when we say we will, and leave it graded out clean.
The usual target is a fall of about 5% for the first 3 metres out from the foundation — roughly 15 cm. We set grades so water moves away from the house and toward a swale or the ditch.
After the backfill has had time to settle and the services are in, and before topsoil and sod. Grading too early can mean low spots once the backfill sinks.
Yes. Most wet yards are a grading problem: a low spot, a blocked swale or soil sloping back toward the house. We reshape the yard and, where needed, add a drain.
